Your Shrinking Wrap Glossary

Single-Wound

Single-Wound

Single-wound shrink wraps are delivered on a flat sheet wrapped around a core. Single-wound shrink wraps are also referred to as single-layer films or flat films. They are frequently used in the packaging of various consumer products.

When using a lap seal machine to package products, the seal is placed on the package's leading edge, trailing edge, and bottom. When using an L-bar sealer or a side sealer to package products, the three seals appear on the leading edge, the following edge, and one of the sides. Lap seal machines, in general, have an electric or static seal on the bottom. This is to keep the film's overlapping layers together.

Centerfold

Centerfold

Centerfold shrink film is folded in half lengthwise. After that, it is rolled onto a core to produce a roll. A 20-inch-wide centerfold roll would unfold to a width of 40 inches.

Centerfold shrink film is utilized in various applications, including tabletop shrink machines, L-bar sealers, and side sealers.

When using centerfold shrink film, the sealer will seal the front, back, and sides before passing it through the heat tunnel.

You can purchase individual pallet loads of centerfold shrink wrap.

Shrink Sleeves

Shrink Sleeves

Another type of shrink wrap commonly used in retail packaging is shrinking sleeves. Shrink sleeves are frequently printed on and placed over bottles to brand them. To avoid distorting printing, shrink sleeves often feature a reduced maximum shrink rate. Preparing plates and design mockups, as well as reaching mandated product minimums, can be time-consuming.

Shrink Tape

Shrink Tape

Shrink tape is a form of packing tape that, when heated, shrinks to fit tightly around various objects. It’s frequently used alongside marine wraps to secure outdoor equipment.  Shrink tape is also used to wrap around electrical lines. It is ideal for connecting several wires. Shrink You can also use tape to bundle goods together for more accessible storage or transport.
